ఏలయనగా దేశమందు నేనొక కాపరిని నియమింపబోవు చున్నాను; అతడు నశించుచున్న గొఱ్ఱెలను కనిపెట్టడు, చెదరిపోయిన వాటిని వెదకడు, విరిగిపోయినదాని బాగు చేయడు, పుష్టిగా ఉన్నదాని కాపుకాయడు గాని క్రొవ్వినవాటి మాంసమును భక్షించుచు వాటి డెక్కలను తుత్తునియలగా చేయుచుండును.

For I am going to raise up a shepherd over the land who will not care for the lost, or seek the young, or heal the injured, or feed the healthy, but will eat the meat of the choice sheep, tearing off their hoofs.

क्योंकि मैं इस देश में एक ऐसा चरवाहा ठहराऊंगा, जो खोई हुई को न ढूंढेगा, न तितर- बितर को इकट्ठी करेंगा, न घायलों को चंगा करेगा, न जो भली चंगी हैं उनका पालन- पोषण करेगा, वरन मोटियों का मांस खाएगा और उनके खुरों को फाड़ डालेगा।

ಇಗೋ, ನಾನು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಕುರುಬನನ್ನು ಎಬ್ಬಿಸುವೆನು; ಅವನು ಕೆಟ್ಟು ಹೋಗುವ ವುಗಳನ್ನು ವಿಚಾರಿಸುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಅವನು ಹುಡುಕುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಮುರಿದದ್ದನ್ನು ಅವನು ಗುಣಮಾಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಇನ್ನೂ ನಿಂತಿರುವದನ್ನು ಅವನು ಪೋಷಿಸುವದಿಲ್ಲ; ಆದರೆ ಕೊಬ್ಬಿದವುಗಳ ಮಾಂಸ ವನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವನು; ಅವುಗಳ ಗೊರಸುಗಳನ್ನು ಮುರಿದು ಬಿಡುವನು.ಮಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಕೈಬಿಡುವಂಥ ಮೈಗಳ್ಳನಾದ ಕುರುಬನಿಗೆ ಅಯ್ಯೋ! ಕತ್ತಿಯು ಅವನ ತೋಳಿನ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಅವನ ಬಲಗಣ್ಣಿನ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಇರುವದು; ಅವನ ತೋಳು ತೀರಾ ಒಣಗುವದು; ಅವನ ಬಲಗಣ್ಣು ಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಕತ್ತಲಾಗುವದು.
